In July, we hosted an early consultation on our revised plans for the West Site to understand the community’s aspirations and gather your feedback

Over 200 people attended our early consultations and gave valuable feedback to the project team. The feedback received was generally positive and, since then, we have been working to revise our proposals to factor in the comments and views that were given. These conversations have influenced our updated proposals ahead of submitting a planning application

Enhanced landscaping

You said public realm improvements were very important to you. We heard your enthusiasm for the new public space and your request for more places to sit and gather.

In response, we have enhanced the landscaping with integrated seating and the addition of trees throughout the new public spaces.

A civic arrival space

We have also improved the link between Elephant and Castle and the extended Pastor Street by creating a colonnade at ground floor, as well as making improvements to the new route to the north of the Tabernacle.

Additionally, we have further developed the area in front of
the retained building to create a civic arrival space, welcoming
people to the new cultural venue

Building heights

You asked for more detail on the building heights:
• Tower 1 – Ground floor + 20 storeys
• Tower 2 – Ground floor + 23 storeys
• Tower 3 – Ground floor + 34 storeys
• Mansion Blocks – Ground floor + 7 storeys

Since the last consultation in July we have reduced the height of Tower 1 and Tower 2 by one storey.

Adaptive reuse for the Cultural Venue

You said sustainability of the development was very important to you and that the proposals to retain part of the existing LCC Workshop building were well received. We have continued to develop

the cultural venue proposals to maximise the retention of the existing floor plates whilst developing a strategy to accommodate a variety of uses in the future.
